THE UNCONTAINED HERETIC STORY
Before There Was Research, There Were Questions
The Uncontained Heretic supports my interest in the unexplained. Things began long before I ever thought of myself as a researcher.
As a child, I experienced things I could not explain. I grew up with experiences I understood as paranormal, including activity in a home I believed to be haunted.
Those experiences weren’t something I could simply forget.
They made me curious.
And curiosity has a way of following you.
THE EXPERIENCES THAT STAYED WITH ME
Some experiences disappear into the background of your life.
Others stay with you because you never found an answer.
My early experiences belonged to the second category.
As I grew older, I began encountering stories from other people describing things that sounded strangely familiar: unexplained sounds and movements, perceived entities, unusual sensations, paralysis, missing or distorted memories, strange lights, UFO/UAP encounters, and experiences people struggled to explain.
The similarities caught my attention.
So did the differences.
I wanted to understand whether these experiences could be explained through known phenomena, whether some accounts were being misunderstood or misremembered, whether different phenomena were being grouped together, or whether there were genuinely unanswered questions hiding underneath the stories.
A LATER EXPERIENCE
One of the experiences that had a particularly strong effect on me occurred much later in life.
Following an intimate encounter, I experienced an episode involving what I perceived as a black, faceless shadow-like figure and sudden paralysis.
The experience was frightening and extraordinarily difficult to explain.
Later, while researching UFO/UAP and anomalous experiences, I encountered accounts from other people describing perceived entities and episodes of paralysis in connection with experiences they interpreted as extraterrestrial, paranormal, or otherwise anomalous.
That comparison raised an obvious question for me:
Why do some people report similar elements in experiences they interpret in completely different ways?
I don’t consider my experience proof of any particular explanation.
But it became another reason to investigate the question.
FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE TO INDEPENDENT RESEARCH
Over the years, my interest expanded far beyond my own experiences.
I began consuming an enormous amount of material covering paranormal investigation, UFO/UAP reports, ancient civilizations, historical mysteries, cryptids, science, technology, consciousness, and unexplained phenomena.
Eventually, I stopped simply asking “What do I believe?”
I started asking:
“What can actually be established?”
That change matters.
Personal experience can create a question.
It cannot, by itself, establish the answer.
WHY I KEEP LOOKING
I’ve never been particularly comfortable accepting an explanation simply because it is convenient.
At the same time, I’m not interested in accepting an extraordinary explanation merely because it is exciting.
I’m interested in the space between those two extremes.
That’s where the questions live.
That’s where research begins.
And that’s where I’ve spent much of the last several decades.
THIS IS WHERE THE WORK BEGINS
The Uncontained Heretic isn’t an attempt to turn my personal experiences into universal conclusions.
It is a place to document the questions those experiences helped create—and to investigate them using research, comparison, documentation, critical thinking, and an openness to being wrong.
I don’t need every mystery to have a paranormal explanation.
I just want the questions to be investigated honestly.
